Thomas Cook Airlines has started exclusive flights from Newcastle to Hurghada, Egypt, running for both summer and winter 2017.

The inaugural flight departed this week, with flights now on Monday until April 2018. All inclusive holidays are available from just £600 per person, or flights are on sale from £119.99 one way.

Hurghada joins other amazing new routes started in May to Almeria and Paphos, coinciding with the opening of the spectacuclar new Thomas Cook Discovery store in Newcastle’s Metrocentre.

James Burrows, Aviation Director for Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “This is a really exciting year for us in Newcastle, with great new routes for both independent travellers and package holiday customers alike.

“Together with Newcastle Airport, we’re going to more great destinations to give our customers even greater choice for their hard-earned holidays.”

John Irving, Business Development Director at Newcastle International Airport:

“We are delighted to see the return of weekly flights to Hurghada for summer and winter 2017 from Newcastle. The ‘capital’ of the Red Sea Riviera, known for its tranquil beaches and excellent weather, we are sure these flights will be very popular with our passengers.

“We have built a fantastic relationship with Thomas Cook Airlines, highlighted recently with two new services to Almeria and Paphos. With more destinations on offer, the recent sponsorship of Newcastle’s QuaysideSeaside, and the opening of its new Discovery store at the Metrocentre, this is a clear demonstration of the airline’s commitment to the region.”

The Discovery store is an innovative new format that reflects how customers research and book holidays today. It brings to life all aspects of a holiday including the hotels, destinations and the flight experience through virtual reality (VR) and video content. The introduction of VR technology and the use of digital screens within the store follows research that an immersive experience can showcase the holiday experience in a fresh and clear way, helping customers to make informed decisions about where to go. Customers also have the option to book appointments online in advance, at a time which suits them.
