Tiger Hornsby pours out its soul

Screen Shot 2015-10-15 at 09.35.13ONE of Newcastle’s leading cocktail bars is putting its heart and soul into a series of special live music events this autumn.

Every Thursday and Sunday, Tiger Hornsby, Quayside, Newcastle, is hosting free, live, soul sessions featuring some of the region’s best artists.

And among them are Tyneside-based Boys Of Brass, who will be leaving guests shaken, not stirred, on 22 October, when Tiger Hornsby holds a special, James Bond-themed evening.

The black tie event is timed to coincide with the release of the latest 007 film, Spectre, on 26 October.

Not only will five-piece Boys Of Brass and vocalists Alex Scott and Dayman Britton be performing theme songs from past films, such as Goldfinger and Skyfall, but guests will be served Bond-inspired cocktails and canapés to match.

The Live Soul Sessions take place on Thursdays from 7pm to 11pm and on Sundays, from 4pm to 7pm and other artists performing over the coming weeks include Newcastle guitarists and singers Jess Avison and Andy Usher.

Singer songwriter Hattie Murdoch will also be taking to the stage, as will vocalist and guitarist Ross Kerr and Newcastle University graduate Faye Shearer, who originally hails from Lancashire but is now one of the North East’s most popular soul singers.

Tiger Hornsby owner Rachael Frame said: “If any region could be said to have soul it is the North East and our live soul sessions are already establishing quite a fan base.

“There’s always a brilliant atmosphere and they provide a great showcase for some of the region’s rising stars.”

Tickets to the 007 event are priced at £22.50 per person and include three cocktails and canapés throughout the evening. Attendees must be 18 or over.
