‘Time to get online’ is a partnership project between County Durham Housing Group, Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes, East Durham Homes and Teesdale Housing Association, and aims to raise awareness of the benefits of the World Wide Web and increase people’s skills.

The new site at www.timetogetonline.org.uk promotes up and coming events across the county to help people get to grips with online technology, as well as providing self-help guides.

Victoria Musgrove, Digital Inclusion Project Co-ordinator, said: “There are currently 10 million people in the UK who are not currently online, and it is predicted that in this year alone 90% of jobs will require IT skills.

“Our society is constantly evolving and is more and more placed within a digital platform.

“We want to show people that online technology is nothing to be afraid of and the benefits in all aspects of life are endless.”

As well as the new site, people can also find out about the services available by calling 0191 349 7777, emailing timetogetonline@cdhg.co.uk, visitingwww.facebook.com/timetogetonline or by following @time2getonline on Twitter.
