Title defence still going strong for Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club.

Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Clubs A team, is still on course to defend its National Junior League title after another set of victories at the second day of matches.

Going into the matches the A team had a 2-point advantage over Darlington A in second place, with no sign of nerves the A team started with a 9-0 whitewash of Ormesby C with James Neal, Troy Maddison and Ed Sett all winning their matches.

The B team started the day with a 5-4 victory over Darlington B, With Kieron Bowes scoring 2 wins including a victory over a county team player, Jamie Collins however won man of the match winning all 3 of his games.

The next round saw the B team come unstuck against Northumberland going down 6-3, again Jamie was Bishops top player winning two and Alex Dickons picking up his first win of the day. The A team had to play second placed Darlington A. James was the man of the match claiming his 3 with Lee Tinkler picking up 2 and Ed picking up a single for a 6-3 victory.

Ormesby B were next up for the A team with Troy, Lee and Ed coming out 9-0 winners to extend their lead at the top of the table going into the last round vs Ormesby A who were only just behind Darlington in 3rd.

The B team found the Ormesby C team just to strong going down 5-4 with Alex Dickons being top player for Bishop picking up 2 wins with John Waterworth and Kieron picking up a win each.

In the final round the B team found second place Darlington too strong going down 8-1 with Jamie picking up a great win over a higher ranked player and unlucky not to get another. The A team had 3rd place Ormesby A, anything but a win would see the lead diminished but again showing no sign of nerves James, Lee and Troy came through 6-3 with Lee picking up 3, 2 for James and a single for Troy

The still unbeaten run for the A team see them in 1st place with a 8 point advantage with the B team in 5th place at the half way stage.
