Title sweep at swerve 1 star

The Swerve 1star in MiddlesbroughThe Swerve 1star in Middlesbrough on Sunday 29th May saw the 11 strong squad from Bishop Auckland take home many of the final positions, starting with the doubles where the final was an all Bishop affair with Max Duffin and Peter Smallcombe overcoming team mates Lee Tinkler and Jack Jacomb in the final. The Junior boys saw more success for Bishop players with Lee Jack, Peter, Max and Sam Hume, having beaten Peter in the group, all made the Quarter finals before taking it in turns in knocking each other out with Lee and Jack losing out and Max and Sam losing out at the Semis to the eventual winner George Hill. Peter having beaten Lee and Max to reach the final ran out of steam in the final going down to George.

On top of his doubles final Lee Tinkler also reached the Semi-final of the Junior Boys Banded singles before losing. 10-year-old Anya Milne also had a good day reaching the finals of the u12’s and fellow 10 year old Luke Mitchell also reached the quarter finals of the u12’s. Adam Hanby, Alex Robinson and Jamie Collins all put in improved performances but found them self’s just short

Max Duffin was the winner of the Cadet Boys singles beating team mate Sam Hume in the final. Sam who was 5th seed for the day had a great win over the 3rd seed Oliver Bryant in the quarter finals, Luca Pontone also reached the quarter finals with a solid performance.
