North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Once upon a time at Cornmill Shopping Centre

Families on the look-out for activities to keep the kids entertained over the school holidays are invited to experience a touch of fairy-tale magic at the Cornmill Shopping Centre in Darlington, with special story-telling events throughout August.

The events, which are free and ideal for little ones of pre-school age, will take place at the centre between 11am and 3pm every Friday during August, with the first story-telling session on Friday 4thAugust.

With a new story on offer each week, books will be brought to life as they are read aloud by everyone’s favourite fairy-tale characters. To keep kids captivated, there will be props, as well as soft play shapes, rockers and toys. The atmosphere is sure to be cosy, with beanbags, cushions and rugs providing a perfect environment for children to listen to tales of mystical creatures, fairy-tale princesses and heroic princes.

The special story telling events are part of a series of family events planned at Cornmill Shopping Centre this summer as part of its new Kids Club. Susan Young, centre manager at Cornmill Shopping Centre, comments: “We know it can be tricky to come up with ways to keep the kids entertained over the summer holidays – especially if you’re looking to keep your wallet happy too.

“Kids Club is our new loyalty scheme which aims to make shopping that bit easier for families and gives parents, grandparents and guardians who sign up access to free pop-up play areas, workshops and treasure trails as well as retailer offers.”
