Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Victory in Grantham for local Table Tennis Player

Anya Milne was the sole Bishop Auckland representative at the Cliffedale Chandlers 2 star in Grantham on the 7th of April. The morning saw the under 15’s event where Anya found the going tough and didn’t find the right gears and went out in the group.  The afternoon however saw Anya move through the gears to find her game. Seeded at number 1 the pressure was on Anya to win. She won her group with 2, 3-0 victories to set up a quarter final with Katie Bates from Stockton, the girls know each other’s games as they meet regularly at events and this showed with the match going to 2-2 before Anya pulled away to win in the 5th set.    The semis saw a re match vs Isobel McGerty who had beaten her in the morning, this time Anya was firing on all cylinders and took the match to set up a final with her Durham team mate Rebecca Savage. Again, the girls know each other’s game and this showed in another 5 set match with Anya going 2-0 up before Rebecca fought back to tie it up, but Anya found another gear to take the match and the title.
