SPITFIRES and Stags, Morris Minors and Midgets are all making their way to Darlington next month for the town’s first ever classic car show.
On Saturday, 3 September, the town centre will play host to dozens of vintage vehicles, from a 1930s Austin 10 Cambridge and a 1950s Singer Roadster to a 1960s Ford Anglia and a 70s Mercedes.
And with cars coming from across the country to attend the free event, organiser Distinct Darlington said families are in for a great day out.
“The response from car clubs and owners has been incredible,” said manager, Alex Hirst.
“More exhibitors are getting in touch every day and the number – and variety – of cars just keeps growing. It’ll be great to see them all and the atmosphere should be brilliant.”
The show will take place at the town centre’s Joseph Pease Place, West Row and Market Square and a wide range of entertainment is planned throughout the course of the day.
Favourite children’s character, Bumblebee; an ‘autobot’ Chevrolet Camaro from the Transformers films, will be making a special appearance and there will be the chance to help a local graffiti artist transform a scrapped car into an artwork.
And Darlington business Hole in the Wall Market Tavern and Kitchen will be on hand to provide refreshments and musical entertainment.
