Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Web agency on the move as expansion plans kick

A North East website design company has moved into new premises as it looks to its secure its future growth.

Edward Robertson, which has specialised in building websites for over 20 years, has taken a five-year lease at the Generator Studios in Newcastle.

The move follows steady increase in growth in the company’s business, plans to expand its team, and continuing demand for its expertise.

Owners, Graham Miller and Simon Crisp, currently employ 14 staff members and are now planning to recruit a further five over the course of the summer.

Graham Miller, 45, said: “Moving into the new premises has been a major step forward in our growth plans and will allow us to increase our capacity with more office and studio workspace. In fact, the Generator Studios offer exactly the kind of creative working space I envisioned when I set up the business back in 1997 working from our first, tiny office, with just a table, modem and computer!”

Since establishing the business, the pair have grown the business from a turnover of £14,000 to £700,000, created well over 500 websites – all while riding out dramas such as the Dotcom Crash in 2002, six UK Prime Ministers, and the continual success of mobile phones and other hand-held devices emerging over the course of last two decades.

Jamie Mableson, investment director at Metnor Property Group, said: “We are delighted that Edward Robertson have chosen the Generator Studios as their long- term home and we congratulate them on their continued success and growth. It’s great to be able to support a local business that is thriving and investing in the business, helping the local economy and creating jobs for the future.

“The Generator Studios has proven very popular with creative and technology-based companies and Edward Robertson will be a very welcome addition.”

Graham said: “While we’ve been creating websites since before Google existed and have a raft of awards under our belt, our proudest achievements involve our fantastic team of talented people. We’re particularly proud that Greg, who joined us in 1996 through the then-known YTS scheme, has built his career with us and is still with us 20 years later.

“We’re also delighted to welcome Chris Prusakiewicz on his placement year from Northumbria University and are looking forward to expanding the team further over the next few months and expect our space at the Generator Studios will provide a great space to continue fostering an excellent working environment.”

Edward Robertson have built up a varied client portfolio including Bannatyne Hotels, Fitness Clubs and Spas, Great British Blues Festival, Seymour’s Homes and the Gainford Group.
