North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Willow Burn Hospice to make one lucky couples dreams come true!

Willow Burn Hospice has searched the North East for couples who are recently engaged and are proud to announce that they have shortlisted their lucky couples who have now started fundraising to win their own Happily Ever After!

The couples sent in their stories about how they got together and what this fantastic prize would mean to them before a panel of judges sat down and made the tough decision on who to put through to the final round, it’s not easy being a fairy godmother these days!

The lucky couple will win an amazing wedding package worth over £12,000 which has been kindly donated by local suppliers. The wedding itself will be held at the beautiful Whitworth Hall Hotel and our generous suppliers include Lanchester Bridal, Troughear, Lyndsays Cakes, Diamond and Lace, M Photography NCL, Eternal Wedding Videos, Special Occasions, The Glamorous Owl, Cindy’s Balloons and Flowers, Tara Shenton, Gemma Foster, Mr Mixologist, Occasional Events NE, Robson Print, Alco-pop, Steven Maddison North East Wedding DJ and Lee Brannigan.

Senior Fundraiser Jacki Pigford said “We are overwhelmed by the generosity and support from the suppliers – without their generosity we would not be able to put on an event like this; many of our suppliers have supported us for several years now for which we are incredibly grateful.”

She said; “To be able to makes someone’s dreams come true is amazing and we wish all of our couples the very best of luck with their fundraising.”

David Abbot-Coyle, General Manager, Whitworth Hall said “Willow Burn is the Hospice closest to us and we are huge supporters of the work they do. Everyone is touched by the need for end of life care and support at some point whether it’s for friends, family or themselves and impressed by the amazing work that is done by the staff day in day out.

When I was approached by Willow Burn to get involved with this important fundraising project, it was a no-brainer. Here was something tangible we could offer that would hopefully help raise some extra support.

Weddings at Whitworth Hall have become very popular, going from just 20 weddings a few years ago a year to 73 in 2018 and they are all special and unique. We pride ourselves on giving 100% to each couple on their big day and we are looking forward to working with the winning couple.”
