The roof garden at the city centre favourite will be transformed into an enchanting forest-themed setting complete with festive lighting, decorations and blankets for guests to wrap up in over the colder months.

Set across the top two floors of the Monument Mall development, The Botanist opened in December 2014 and launched its popular terrace – a 1,500 sq ft full-service open-air bar serving up to 120 people – this spring.

It boasts unique views of Grey’s Monument and Grey Street, and features sheltered seating areas in garden-style tool sheds, picnic tables and outdoor heating.

Chris Hill, managing director of The New World Trading Company, said: “We wanted to bring something new to our customers in Newcastle which means they can still enjoy the roof bar as the days draw darker.

“There’s always a lot of interest around what we’re going to do next so it’s exciting to make the announcement. We’re looking forward to seeing the reaction of our regulars and introducing new faces to the venue with this added element.”

To deck out the roof garden, the New World Trading Company has teamed up for the second time with Tyneside’s The Christmas Decorators, which fitted more than 12,000 LED lights in February this year to illuminate its iconic dome, part of the city’s skyline.

The Botanist general manager Andrew Shiel-Redfern said: “The atmosphere was fantastic last Christmas so we can’t wait to build on that this time around. Our winter wonderland will offer the perfect place to watch over Newcastle lit up this season following the switch-on.”

The Botanist winter wonderland will officially launch on the evening of Thursday 19 November. For more information, call 0191 261 6307, email newcastlebdm@thebotanist.uk.com or visit The Botanist at Monument Mall, Newcastle NE1 5AU.
