Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Witchdoctor conjures up pain relief for North East sufferers

AN EXPERT in an effective and under-used source of pain relief is to open the region’s first clinic in Gateshead.

Naomi Robson, (25), has trained in the use of trigger point pain relief and has for a number of years helped long-suffering people to alleviate their chronic pain.

And now because of a surge of interest in the treatments she offers, Naomi is opening a clinic at Gateshead High Street, with long-term plans to open a number across the North East and beyond.

Naomi also believes her unique form of pain relief doesn’t just help the individual but can also help the region’s productivity, by helping reduce the number of sick days taken by people with constant pain.

“Trigger point pain relief is virtually unknown but it is extremely effective,” said Naomi, who also works as a personal trainer.

“Many people don’t realise that what they are feeling is actually referred pain and the cause is coming from somewhere entirely different and this is what I’m able to identify and help ease.”

Naomi believes that workplace stress and hours spent sitting in the same position or making repetitive movements can cause “trigger points” to be created in the muscles.

“The creation of a trigger point inhibits our movements and decreases wellness as we are repeating the same movements that hurt us initially,” she said.

“So we find that we’re in a vicious circle of further pain which also reduces the quality of our work and ultimately leads to time off.”

Naomi has had numerous successes with patients working in a range of industries – which lead to the reason she picked her unusual company name.

“I had a long distance lorry driver come to me for treatment and even before he told me what he did I guessed by his stance,” she said.

“He was shocked when I told him I knew what he did for a living and that, coupled with the fact that I really helped him, led to him calling me a witchdoctor!”

Naomi is already training up other therapists and will be offering a range of treatments alongside the pain relief including massage and stress management.

She is also hoping to work with some of the region’s employers who are losing man days through pain-related absences.

Initially Naomi worked out of a number of gyms across Sunderland but she now feels the time is right to open a dedicated clinic.

“As I’m getting busier it seemed a logical move to open a clinic and I’m looking forward to showing people how effective trigger point pain relief can be.”
