Wolsingham School First in Region to Achieve UNESCO Associated School Status

One of only 22 UNESCO Associated Schools across the UK, Wolsingham School has been accepted to join a global network of 10,000 educational institutions in 181 countries.

The UNESCO Associated Schools Programme is a global network of schools, which educate for sustainable development allowing every human being to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to shape a sustainable future.

Wolsingham School, whose motto is ‘inspiring all to aspire and achieve’ has a solid reputation in continuing improvement in academic success in an inclusive, diverse learning environment. The School is totally committed to developing each child’s full potential by encouraging them to be an empathetic, responsive and independent learners.  Wolsingham School provides a stimulating education relevant to today’s world and with an international outlook, whilst nourishing mind, body and spirit.

The UNESCO Associated School Award was a result of a collaborative partnership between Wolsingham School and Most Education, which is the North-East not-for-profit organisation for intercultural relations, educational opportunities and school partnerships.

“It was a year-long application process and the application form had to go before a big committee at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. I am delighted to be involved in bringing this recognition to the first maintainedschool in the North-East.

There will be so many great opportunities to come and the children of Wolsingham School will all make wonderful ambassadors of the North-East to the bigger World,” comments Most Education Founder Lana Briton.
