A MULTI award-winning Newcastle bar has launched an enticing new menu and a selection of seasonal drinks in the lead up to the festive season.

City Tavern at Northumberland Road, Newcastle is inviting diners to try something new with a range of international dishes being added to their bar bait and sharing plank menus.

The new dishes are set to complement the already popular regular menu, which offers a range of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options for diners with special dietary requirements.

Among the additions to the bar bait menu are Spanish meatballs in a spicy tomato and chorizo sauce, served with crusty bread and parmesan shavings, honey mustard glazed mini sausages with toasted pine nuts and ‘bang bang’ mustard, and authentic home-made Middle-Eastern falafel, served with hummus, tzatziki, and spicy tomato dip.

Diners looking to sample the new sharing planks can choose from antipasto, Greek mezze, baked camembert, and a locally sourced cheese board.

Alongside the new selection of international dishes, City Tavern have also welcomed the changing seasons by introducing warming winter drinks to the menu.

Those wanting to embrace the festive spirit can choose from hot mulled wine, warm pumpkin and ginger scrumpy, and a Bailey’s latte.

“We regularly change up our menu to suit the changing seasons and to ensure there is something for everyone, whether people are coming in for a family meal or just a quick bite,” said David King, owner of City Tavern.

“The whole venue is decorated at Christmas and with the addition of the new dishes and the warming winter drinks, we’re really looking forward to providing something extra special for the people of Newcastle.”

City Tavern was taken over by Mr King early in 2014 and then enjoyed a £450k refurbishment to create a state-of-the-art bar while still retaining the venue’s historic features.
