Neil Bartle, Sean Cairns and Andrew Price, all employees of County Durham Housing Group’s repairs and maintenance arm ‘Group Property Services’ (GPS), have been carrying out joinery, painting and decorating duties for three decades.

All three workers started their careers as Durham City Council apprentices and have been loyal to their area of work ever since.

Neil said: “It just feels like yesterday that I was handed my first paintbrush and it’s great that we have all been able to carve strong career paths with our trades.”

Sean, who started work as a joiner and has since moved into a supervisory role, said: “They say time flies when you’re having fun – so that must be the case with 90 years’ service between us!”

Andrew concluded: “So much has changed since we started work, but it’s great to be able to say we have been through it all together.”

General and Commercial Manager for GPS, Joe Gash, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to commend this level of progression and commitment within the organisation.”

GPS is a division of County Durham Housing Group and is responsible for repairs and maintenance, home improvements and gas services to more than 10,000 properties.
