Young table tennis players illuminate Blackpool

A squad of 8 young players took part in the Blackpool 2 star on the 18th of December. 9-year- old Ben old started the day reaching the Quarter Finals of the under 11s before going losing in 4 games. The cadets saw 11-year- old Anya Milne and Troy Maddison start their tournament. Anya made it out of her group and to the Quarter finals before losing to the England number 2. Troy made it out of his group and reached the last 16.

The Junior Boys event saw Jack Jacomb, Lee Tinkler, James Neal and John Waterworth enter the fray along with Troy Maddison. The groups saw James and Troy up against each other with James winning though to the main event and Troy into the plate. Jack and Lee also joined James in the last 16. for the second tournament running Lee and James drew each other with Lee coming out winner

Jack Jacomb scored a great win in the last 16 over a higher ranked player to reach the quarter finals. Jack would have his run ended in the quarter finals and Lee in the Semi-finals both by higher ranked David Gofton.

Amy Mold joined Anya in the u13 girl’s category. Amy ended up in the plate event but didn’t let the disappointment dwell, as she made her way through to the final before going down in 4. Anya made it into the main event and reached the quarter final just missing out on the semi-finals losing in 5 tight games. The last player in the event was Ben Mold in the under 13’s boys, playing boys 4 years older than himself Ben exceeded all expectation by going on the claim the Under 13’s Boys plate final

The club, founded in 2012, has seen rapid growth and success over the last few years, running sessions every weeknight in several locations.
