A day in the life of an Apprentice Property Consultant

No two days are ever the same for an Apprentice Property Consultant at Walton Robinson.

The Newcastle-based agency specialises in residential lettings for students, professionals and families in and around the Newcastle area, and those wanting to invest, buy, sell or develop property anywhere in the North East.

For an Apprentice Property Consultant, this means dealing with prospective tenants on a day to day basis, from marketing the property and initial enquiries, all the way through to the property being taken off the market.

Apprentice Property Consultant, Jodie Child, shared her thoughts on why working within the Walton Robinson Lettings Team is such a rewarding experience.

“Working as an apprentice in the Lettings Team at Walton Robinson is really fast-paced, and very hands on and practical. You get to meet so many different people and there are so many opportunities to get involved in.

“Every morning we catch up as a team in our morning meeting to discuss any live offers and any targets the team are working towards. We then look over new leads we’ve received, confirm attendance for viewings and reschedule any viewings that are no longer suitable.

“One day you may be office based, dealing with enquiries or booking in viewings, and then next you might be out and about on viewings, with appointments throughout the day. For me, this means walking to our city centre properties – I definitely get my steps in.

“As an apprentice, I try to document every learning opportunity I am given. Because the role is so practical, you need to note every little thing down as its hard to remember everything you learn in the first few months.

“The apprenticeship gives me a sense of security, as I had little work experience before this, and the step by step training I was given allowed me to learn and grow at my own pace rather than being thrown in the deep end.

“You also learn to be patient and resilient, especially when chasing enquiries. You’ve just got to keep pushing those phone calls.

“The biggest thing for me is the confidence that I have gained from since starting my apprenticeship. Being able to have such a supportive team around you helps you to flourish.

“Personally, I feel taking an apprenticeship with Walton Robinson is one of the best things you can do, so don’t be scared to make an application.”

Walton Robinson provides landlord property management services in Newcastle upon Tyne and surrounding areas, including let only, full property management and facilities management services.

Lettings Manager, Kyle Dickson, said: “Working with our lettings team is really exciting and rewarding, as two days are never really the same.

“There’s also the added satisfaction of being able to work closely with customers to identify what they want and need from their property search, and then being able to deliver on those expectations.”
