The company has been jointly nominated alongside South Tyneside Housing Ventures Trust in the Local Authority Building Control awards for a 26-property development on Stanley Street, Jarrow.
They are through to the final in the ‘best social or affordable new housing’ category.
The Jarrow town centre scheme is a mixture of flats, bungalows and houses designed specifically for the over 55s.
South Tyneside Homes’ property services took over delivery of the project on behalf of South Tyneside Housing Ventures Trust when the previous contractor went into administration.
Councillor Ed Malcolm, Chairman of South Tyneside Homes’ Board, said: “We’re delighted to have been nominated for this award.
“Our property services team worked extremely hard and overcame a lot of difficulties to complete this build and we’re very proud of the Stanley Street development.
“I wish them the best of luck for the final.”
The Ventures Trust was set up by the Council, South Tyneside Homes and the Homes and Community Agency (HCA) to take the lead on the development of new homes in the Borough for rent or shared ownership.
The awards will be judged on July 8.
