Award-winning folk trio Said the Maiden to perform at Gala

An award-winning folk band will showcase songs from their second album when they perform at Gala later this month.

Hertfordshire-based trio Said the Maiden will perform tracks from their eagerly-anticipated album ‘Here’s A Health’ on Friday, 27 October, as well as songs from their debut album ‘A Curious Tale’.

The band’s unique and distinctive sound has seen them win the Folking Awards ‘Rising Star’ prize and a New Music Generator (NMG) Award nomination for best acoustic, country and folk act in 2017, as well as being voted the ‘Best Act’ by the audience at the Great British Folk Festival’s Introducing Stage in 2015.

Audience members can expect to hear original compositions inspired by the trio’s love of the folk tradition as well as covers of more modern folk songs featuring their trademark soaring acapella harmonies.

The band, made up of Jess Distill, Hannah Elizabeth and Kathy Pilkinton, have opened for a number of successful artists including The Full English, The Fisherman’s Friends and Jim Moray, as well as joining legendary fiddler the late Dave Swarbrick on a successful UK solo tour in 2014.

Prior to embarking on their latest tour, the trio also made their first international appearance in the summer of 2017, performing at the Jazz and Joy Festival in Worms, Germany and the Costa del Folk in Portugal.

Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £10 in advance or £12 on the door.
