Glittering awards night for Academy 360’s GCSE record breakers.
The cream of Academy 360’s GCSE students were rewarded for their outstanding academic results at the school’s first achievement awards evening.
Dozens of students, parents and friends packed the Sunderland school’s main hall to acclaim the star pupils who excelled in last summer’s GCSE exams – producing Academy 360’s best ever results.
Individual GCSE certificates were handed out by Principal Rachel Donohue to last term’s Year 11 pupils who returned to the school especially for the ceremony.
Trophies were awarded to the pupils judged to be the star performers in each subject followed by special awards for students who made exceptional contributions to school life.
Ms Donohue said: “These students are exceptional role models for our younger students who look at the results these award winners have achieved and are inspired to follow them.”
The ‘Class of 2016’ students more than doubled Academy 360’s GCSE pass rate at A* to C grade from 16% to 33%
Henry Wagner, who scooped the Principal’s Award for his exceptional academic achievement, said: “There are a lot of things I could say about Academy 360 but the best thing about this school is the teachers and their relentless support of students to achieve well.
“They have helped me with everything I’ve done here.”
