A batter way to raise funds at Harbour View

Kind hearted customers at one of the region’s most popular fish and chip restaurants have dug deep to help a cancer care charity raise vital funds.

The Harbour View Restaurant in Seaton Sluice opened its doors especially for a Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising evening and invited its customers to enjoy fish and chips while donating to a good cause.

More than 50 customers braved the cold weather as bosses at the restaurant donated their entire takings from the evening to support the charity.

A special raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, including hampers and a watch presented by J Herron Jewellers of Blyth helped the evening’s total reach a staggering £1597.00. Other in-kind support was received by Rose Potatoes and Collins Seafood who also contributed towards the evening’s event.

Macmillan Cancer Support are available to help those affected by Cancer by helping with a wide range of issues including money worries and advice about work or simply listening if anyone wants to talk.  Olwyn Sheldon, a Macmillan Cancer Support volunteer was delighted with the amount raised and the generosity of the restaurant and its customers.

“This event has really raised awareness of the work that we do. We really appreciate the support of the Harbour View and thank everyone for contributing.”

The success of the Harbour View Restaurant can be traced back to excellent customer service; a passion for food and a reputation for only serving the best quality produce. Everything is cooked to order and queues often stretch out of the door, indeed, the restaurant has regular customers from Scotland and Yorkshire who visit for their weekly fish and chip tea.
