BBC SINGERS TO VISIT MIDDLESBROUGH SCHOOLS

MIDDLESBROUGH schoolchildren will be getting ready for a landmark performance with the help of a leading national singing group.

The BBC Singers Performing Group will be visiting two Middlesbrough Primary Schools today (Tuesday, July 3) to help the youngsters prepare them for their show at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Wednesday.

Pupils from Hemlington Hall, Newport, Captain Cook and Sacred Heart primaries have been working very hard for the last few months to learn two songs from the BBC-led ‘Ten Pieces’ initiative which aims to open up the world of classical music to young people.

Middlesbrough Town Hall has been championing the BBC initiative since its creation in 2015.

On Tuesday, July 3 around 10 professional singers from the BBC Singers will visit Newport Primary School in the morning, and Captain Cook Primary in the afternoon to support the children to perfect these two pieces, which they will then perform on the stage at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Wednesday, July 4.

Tickets are available online for £2.50 from www.middlesbroughtownhall.co.uk
