Bentley Newcastle Attend Concours of Elegance Event

We were delighted to attend this year’s Concours of Elegance event. With the permission of Her Majesty the Queen, the event was yet again held at a Royal Palace and this year’s venue saw a return to Windsor Castle which is where the event began in 2012.

JCT600 Bentley Newcastle began their Concours tour at the dealership where we departed for Barnsdale Lodge in a Bentley Mulsanne, Bentley Flying Spur and our first SUV the Bentley Bentayga. After lunch at Barnsdale Lodge, we ventured onto the Shuttleworth Museum for a tour of the aircraft and car collection which was started by Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth who was a passionate racer and pilot. It was then onto Brooklands Hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Concours Friday began at the Brooklands Museum for a photo opportunity at the birthplace of British Motorsport. It was then onto Windsor Castle for our main event – Concours of Elegance Owners Day.

The event brings together a collection of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world and first began in 17th Century France where the aristocracy paraded their ornate horse drawn carriages through the parks of Paris. Overtime, the carriages became horseless and were replaced by automobiles and their owners. The event is a testament to the development of the automobile and this was evident when we drove up the long walk and then went on to view the Owner’s Day vehicles which were displayed in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle.

We had an excellent day viewing the cars and talking to their owners who are extremely passionate about their vehicles. An excellent day was had by all and we are looking forward to 2017’s event.

We would also like to thank Barnsdale Lodge, Shuttleworth Museum, Brooklands Hotel and Brooklands Museum for their generous and welcoming hospitality.
