The Three Mile Inn, Gosforth, Newcastle, which recently underwent refurbishment, has unveiled its new, summer menu – and the highlight is the bait box; a variation on the Oriental bento box.
Just like its Far Eastern counterparts, The Three Mile Inn’s bait boxes contain rice and vegetables, in the form of salad and coleslaw, and are designed to be eaten at the venue or taken away.
However, they also take their inspiration from a wide variety of cuisines – from Mexican to Italian.
Diners can choose from six bait boxes, containing dishes such as fried chicken and chorizo filled burritos; poached salmon with broccoli, peas and avocado and beef and lamb meatballs with Napoli sauce.
Along with the bait boxes, the new menu of bar snacks, starters and main dishes features ingredients from across the globe, from Three Mile Fajitas with sweet potato fries, to traditional British fish and chips.
There is also an expanded range of burgers and hot dogs – including the Ultimate Dog, topped with pulled pork, chorizo and cheese – along with the venue’s signature dish of the day; a pot of pulled mixed meats in gravy, topped with homemade pork scratchings and served with a pint of ale.
The Three Mile Inn recently revealed the look of its new sports bar, decorated with memorabilia signed by stars such as rugby player Jonny Wilkinson and boxer Ricky Hatton.
Customers will be able to watch all major sporting events on televisions placed throughout the bar or reserve one of four private booths, each of which has its own TV screen.
Prices for dishes from the new menu start at £3.50 for starters, £6.95 for main courses and £7.25 for hot dogs, while the six bait boxes cost £5.95 each.
