The awards are an annual celebration of the hard work and achievement of individuals and businesses across Darlington. Local people, including businesses, can nominate someone who they feel deserves special recognition.
Seth Pearson, Director of One Darlington, said: “The success of these awards depends on people getting involved and making a nomination. Everyone knows someone who goes that extra mile to help others or who has overcome problems to succeed in life. I urge them to get involved and make their nomination.”
Alasdair MacConachie, Chair of One Darlington, added:
“I am particularly interested in receiving nominations for our business categories and especially our new Ingenious award. This covers not just businesses but other aspects of life where people have found an ingenious solution to a problem or who have had ingenious ideas that have brought them or the community success. Darlington is an ingenious town and this is celebrated in our new award category.”
Categories include; contribution to sport, vocational excellence, academic excellence, contribution to the arts, business contribution to the community and bringing success to Darlington. New for this year is the public sector hero category and most ingenious award.
Anyone who lives, works or studies within the Borough or businesses who have a base here can be nominated. Shortlisted finalists across the 14 categories along with their nominators will be invited to the prestigious awards ceremony at Darlington College on 6 May where the winners will be announced.
Nominations can be made online by visiting www.onedarlington.org.uk/best-of-darlington or by completing a form available from the Town Hall Customer Service Centre or call 01325 406420 to have one posted out.
