Bike for a bike!

Skipton Building Society has helped to raise over £350.00 for local Wheels 2 Work scheme.

Skipton Building Society raised the funds by taking part in a stationary bike ride outside their branch on Northallerton High Street.

The event required employees from Skipton Building Society and Hambleton Community Action to take part in half an hour spells on the bike, throughout the day. Emma Hare and Dan Sutcliffe from the building society also arranged for other enjoyable fundraising activities to take place, such as Name the Teddy.

The donations will go towards purchasing a new moped for Wheels 2 Work, which is a moped loan scheme, that helps people get to work, apprenticeships, or training, where no other form of transport is available. The scheme is provided by local voluntary organisation Hambleton Community Action, and helps people of all ages across Hambleton and beyond to gain more independence.

Wheels 2 Work Co-ordinator, Andy Reddick, expressed his thanks to the organisation:

“I would like to say a huge thank you to Skipton Building Society for their hard work and generosity, we are so grateful for this donation. A new bike will help to provide a stepping stone into employment, education and training, for many people over the coming years. Thank you also to the wonderful members of the public who donated and cheered us along”.

Skipton Building Society offers ongoing support to new or existing members in and around local communities through various channels, these being local fundraising, our grassroots giving scheme, a branch community fund or through the society’s charitable foundation.

“We would like to thank Andy and the team at Hambleton Community Action as well as all our customers for their ongoing support in raising funds for the Wheels 2 Work scheme and we look forward to supporting more organisations throughout 2017. “ Branch Manager, Dan Sutcliffe
