On your bike! Local housebuilder helps Morpeth pupils get cycling this Bike Week

Local five star housebuilder, Barratt Homes North East, has donated a 20ft storage container worth £2,400 to Collingwood School and Media Arts College in Morpeth. The donation to the school, which is near Barratt’s South Fields development in Stobhill, will provide the pupils with a safe space to store their bikes, to help encourage them to take up cycling during Bike Week in June.

Paul Race, Sales Manager at Barratt Homes North East’s South Fields development, commented:

“We’re always looking at different ways that we can support the communities in which we build and develop strong relationships with surrounding schools, businesses and community groups. When we heard that Collingwood School and Media Arts College were looking for help to get their pupils cycling during Bike Week, we wanted to support in any way we could. We’re really pleased to see the positive impact that the storage space has had already and are excited to see more and more pupils at the school making the most of it.”

Richard Jones, Head teacher at Collingwood School and Media Arts College, added:

“Cycling is a fantastic way to keep fit and active and we wanted to encourage our pupils to get out on their bikes as much as possible. Unfortunately, we didn’t really have an appropriate space for anyone to store their bikes at the school, which meant a lot of people were put off. This donation from Barratt is fantastic and we are tremendously grateful to all the staff there for the time and effort that went into delivering the container to the school.”
