BOSS becomes latest aspirational brand to open intu Metrocentre store

Shopping centre owner intu has agreed terms with international fashion brand BOSS to launch a new store at intu Metrocentre in Gateshead.

It is the latest aspirational retailer to sign up for space at Europe’s largest shopping destination and will be the fifth BOSS store within intu’s portfolio of shopping centres.

The 4,047 sq ft (376m2) intu Metrocentre store will showcase the full range of luxury BOSS menswear and womenswear collections, including ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories when it opens in March 2017.

Kate Grant, regional director at intu, said: “BOSS is the latest brand to select intu Metrocentre as the perfect location to attract the north east of England’s growing population of affluent shoppers as the region becomes increasingly important for luxury retailers.”

“intu Metrocentre is ideally placed to help brands like BOSS flourish thanks to its aspirational retail mix, expansive catchment area and excellent dining offer that is creating even more reasons for our customers to smile as part of their visit with us.”

An ongoing investment programme at the shopping centre has included the refurbishment of intu Metrocentre’s Platinum Mall which is home to many of its most aspirational retailers as well as the extension of its dining and leisure quarter Qube to welcome 12 new restaurants.

Luxury fashion retailer Flannels opened at intu Metrocentre last year, offering a range of sought-after designer products. House of Fraser also extended its beauty hall in 2015 to increase its range of luxury brands such as Jo Malone, Aspinal and Mulberry.
