The Botanist Confirms Dinner with the Earl is back for Autumn

AFTER the first Dinner with the Earl sold out in a matter of days The Botanist has teamed up with NewcastleGateshead Initiative (NGI) for a second time to bring back the exclusive event.

In August Geordie experience-seekers jumped at the chance to take in Newcastle from one of the city’s best-kept secret outlooks at the top of Grey’s Monument, followed by a meal at The Botanist – famed for its restaurant views.

Following its popularity, those who missed out on tickets have another opportunity to enjoy a guided tour, climbing all 164 steps to reach the top of the iconic figure and see the city from the sky, before descending to the neighbouring Monument Mall bar and eatery for a three course dinner fit for an Earl.

Dinner with the Earl will return on Sunday 15 October 2017, with three tours for 24 people in total starting from 5pm, with each one lasting 30 minutes and able to accommodate eight people. During their slot, groups will learn about the history of the monument and Earl Grey himself, whilst enjoying a bird’s eye vantage point of Grey Street and Grainger Street’s beautiful buildings, all the way to the Quayside and beyond.

Once back on ground level – or on the second floor to be precise – the parties will take a seat in The Botanist, which itself is known for its unrivalled cityscape featuring Grey’s Monument at the centre, to reflect on their tour over a bite to eat.

Diners will be able to choose a starter, main course and dessert from a set menu with dishes including the popular ‘Hanging Kebab’ concept in chicken, jerk salmon or halloumi and sesame falafel; various burgers and indulgent desserts such as Warm Chocolate Fudge Cake and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Andrew Shiel-Redfern, general manager at The Botanist, said: “We were overwhelmed with the fantastic response following announcing Dinner with the Earl in the summer, which was intended to be a one-off experience. Due to its popularity, it’s great to have teamed up with NGI again to give those who missed out on tickets the chance to snap them up this time around.

“The city’s skyline is at its best in autumn, so those lucky enough to be climbing to the top of one of Newcastle’s most-loved landmarks will be in for a treat. I’d urge anyone who is interested to get in touch quickly as a limited number of 24 places are available.”

Sarah Stewart, chief executive at destination management and marketing organisation NewcastleGateshead Initiative, said: “It’s fantastic to see that Dinner with the Earl has been so popular and visitors and locals alike have a second opportunity to snap up this very special offer – combining history, delicious food and two of the best views in the City.

“The success of this event and our partnership with The Botanist demonstrates the important role that our partners play in helping us promote the huge variety of experiences on offer to visitors in NewcastleGateshead, and how by working together we can deliver some truly unique experiences.”

Tickets are available now and must be booked in advance, priced at £35 per person. To purchase tickets call 0191 261 6307 or email newcastlebookings@thebotanist.uk.com.
