The £3.5m bridge and highway scheme – which will replace the existing flood blighted structure – will also unlock the potential of businesses based on the Dalton Industrial Estate.
They are often landlocked when the road is closed due to severe weather.
On Wednesday (June 22) members of the team working to secure the new bridge held an open day at Topcliffe Village Hall to show local people, landowners and business leaders the replacement plans.
Around 50 people attended the event to hear that the construction is planned for 2017 and could facilitate the creation of another 1000 jobs – generating £124million of economic benefits to the area.
Earlier this month the final piece of funding for the scheme was received when the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership awarded it £1.8million. The remainder of the cash will come from local businesses and the Environment Agency with support from Hambleton District Council.
