Bridges fashion weekend hailed a success

SUNDERLAND shoppers enjoyed a weekend of FROWs, clothes and fashion shows as the Bridges Fashion Weekend returned for its second year.

The leading shopping centre became a hub for all things fashion and style in a packed weekend of catwalk shows featuring top trends from major high street retailers.

Topshop, Debenhams, Superdry and Primark were among the leading stores taking part, along with River Island, which recently announced it will be relocating to the larger premises formerly occupied by Sports Direct within the Bridges.

The event opened with an exclusive press preview event on Thursday evening, with several shows, all hosted by Heart Radio’s Kelly Scott, taking place over the weekend.

Each show pulled in massive crowds with many products selling out early, and the event also coincided with the launch of Debenhams’ newly refurbished beauty department.

Samantha Czwordon-Wright, marketing manager at the Bridges, hailed the weekend a big success.

“We had a fantastic weekend, with full audiences for all of our shows,” she said. “It proved to be so popular we had to change one of the looks half way through the weekend because items had completely sold out.

“All of the retailers taking part reported strong sales with fashion savvy shoppers snapping some of the hottest looks and products after seeing them on the catwalks.

“The event has been amazing and I’m delighted with its success. Here at the Bridges we have a lot to offer fashion-conscious shoppers of all ages and budgets and I’m thrilled we have been to showcase the season’s top trends to such a wide audience.”
