Bringing the New Year in with a bang!

Crowds will have a fantastic display to look forward to at Sunderland's seafront this New Year's Eve

Come along to Sunderland’s award winning seafront and celebrate the New Year with a bang, a whizz and a pop as a breathtaking firework spectacular finishes off an evening of fire-lit family fun.

An early evening event, funded by the Coastal Communities Fund, will see Cliffe Park, Seaburn play host to awe-inspiring fire acts, children’s fairground rides and a range of delicious catering delights.
The fiery fun will run from 4.30- 6pm on Thursday 31 December 2015.

Councillor John Kelly, Sunderland City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Public Health, Wellness and Culture, said: “We’re thrilled to be marking New Year’s Eve with a fantastic family event focused around a truly breathtaking firework display. This earlier New Year event has been planned for tea time to enable families to travel home in time to welcome the New Year in.”

The events are delivered by Sunderland Live on behalf of Sunderland City Council.

For visitors planning to keep the party going a little longer, the city centre will then host its very own firework display at midnight, which can be viewed from Keel Square.

Councillor Paul Watson, Leader of Sunderland City Council, added: “It is great to be able to bring fireworks to the city centre to mark the turn of the New Year. We look forward to seeing everybody enjoying display and having a fun and safe new year.”
