Oxjam Darlo is a one-day music festival, which promotes a number of home grown artists, taking place in more than ten venues across Darlington.
Oxjam is a national initiative that takes place in a number of towns and cities across the UK and is returning to Darlington for the third consecutive year.
The Darlington festival has raised more than £15,000 in its last two Oxjam events, all of which was donated to national charity Oxfam.
This year, Darlington Building Society has donated £1000 to the event’s marketing costs and is the main sponsor.
As part of the Society’s 160th birthday pledges it is aiming to help raise £160,000 to local causes and promoting volunteering across the region, making Oxjam the perfect partner as it is run entirely by volunteers.
Jonny Lancaster, Systems Administrator at Darlington Building Society said: “It is fantastic to get involved with Oxjam again. The last two years have been a tremendous success and we hope to build on that this year. It really highlights the fantastic culture of the town and the emerging talent we have right here in Darlington and this year is shaping up to be the best yet.
“Oxjam has something for all members of the family and is sure to be an enjoyable experience for everyone who comes along. It is also a great way to raise awareness of the remarkable work of the global charity Oxfam”.
Chris Jenkins, organiser of Oxjam Darlo, said: “I cannot thank Darlington Building Society enough for its donation and support in organising the next Oxjam festival. The Society is renowned for its community support and we are delighted to work with all the staff in achieving the best Oxjam Darlo to date.”
