Carols and classics get Hartlepool care home in festive spirit

A HARTLEPOOL care home is alive with the sound of music as classic songs and carols are performed by residents and visitors.

Musical activities at Queens Meadow Care Home have included singing school pupils and a 1940s and 50s tribute.

Year 6 and 7 pupils from St Aidan’s CE Primary School visited the home to perform carols and songs including Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and We Three Kings.

A communion was then held at the home before the children spoke to the residents about what they did when they attended Sunday school.

Resident Thelma Williams said: “I loved the service and especially enjoyed talking with the children about what they hoped to receive for Christmas.”

Singing group Lynne and Co. also visited the home, dressed in war time outfits, to entertain the residents with songs from their youths.

Everyone sang along to classics including We’ll Meet Again, Blue Birds Over the White Cliffs of Dover, before finishing with Christmas songs and dancing.

Julie Armstrong, home manager of Queens Meadow Care Home, on Stockton Road, said: “Everyone had a wonderful time and loved that they knew all the songs.”
