Carr Hill Kids Care at Christmas

The spirit of Christmas was alive and well in Gateshead when children from Carr Hill Community Primary School raffled three hampers to help The People’s Kitchen.

The kind-hearted teachers raised an amazing £350 by donating food and pamper products which were then made into hamper raffle prizes. The children then helped to package the hampers and sold raffle tickets to parents and teachers.

Deputy head teacher Paul Harris was delighted with the efforts of the school’s staff and children.

“We know that for many people, Christmas can be a tough time and recently we’ve been helping local food banks in Gateshead. We are aware of the good work that The People’s Kitchen does and wanted to show our support. I’m very proud of the staff and pupils alike. I hope that the money will help those in need at Christmas.”

Indeed, the donation will help feed around 70 people. As part of The People’s Kitchen’s Food for Thought campaign, online voucher website,NEOffers.co.uk is taking donations of £5 to buy a three course Christmas dinner for a person in need of food and friendship.

TV celebrity chef, Si King is patron of the charity and has launched the #foodforthought campaign which is hoping to raise £15,000 during the run up to Christmas and make people think more about vulnerable and homeless people across Newcastle.
