CASTLEGATE Shopping Centre has been nominated for a prestigious award celebrating their landmark artwork ‘Turn Back Tide.’

Recognising excellence in shopping centre marketing, Stockton-based Castlegate have been nominated for ‘Tactical Marketing Communications’ at the esteemed REVO Purple Apple Marketing Awards.

Castlegate’s 38-metre-wide art installation, which explores the rich local heritage of Stockton-on-Tees, has been nominated for its multi-layered public relations campaign which featured national and local television, radio, press and digital coverage.

Featuring on ITV Good Morning Britain, BBC Look North and Radio Tees. Interviews with the artist Aikaterini Gegisian also featured in LUXE magazine, ART & Education alongside local newspapers and business websites.

The coverage from the campaign helped reach people in the North East who otherwise wouldn’t have visited the centre and Castlegate are further continuing this dialogue through a community engagement programme that will be rolled out during 2018.

Chantal Taylor, Marketing Manager at Castlegate, commented: “The Purple Apple Marketing Awards are the highest accolade you can wish to win in retail. To be shortlisted against some of the UK’s leading shopping centres and receive national recognition is fantastic for Castlegate.

The PR far exceeded our expectations and the positive results together with the locality of a very interesting art installation allowed us to make links with our community” added Chantal.

Castlegate find out at a glittering London awards ceremony if they are lucky enough to bring home a Purple Apple in May.
