The Summer Laffalang is a tribute to South Tyneside comedy and pantomime legend Bob Stott, who has nominated The Children’s Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) at Freeman Hospital as the recipient of the show’s profits.
Bob will be joined in the comedy extravaganza by the popular Laffalang Gang and the “Godfather of North East Comedy” Bobby Pattinson, who will do a ten-minute stand-up slot.
Bob Stott said: “The response so far has been incredible. It’s mostly been word of mouth so we are expecting a big turnout. People are stopping me in the street to ask what I’ll be doing in the show. I tell them to come along and see!”
Laffalang producer and director Gareth Hunter said: “Our previous best turnout was more than 300 so we are hopeful people will turn out to support Bob and the excellent work of CHUF.
“Bob was 70 this year and he will be telling hilarious anecdotes about trading the boards since he was ten. He has also selected a number of his favourite Laffalang sketches and will be performing as the irrepressibly funny Widow Twanky.”
Gareth added: “We are starting the show at 7pm because we know there will be lots of laughter and mayhem.”
Laffalang with Bob Stott will be held at the Westovian Theatre, Ocean Road, South Shields (NE33 2JS), on Friday and Saturday, July 22 and 23. The show starts at 7pm.
Tickets are only £11 from the box office (0191) 4247788.
