Community comes together for South Bank Primary School

SOUTH Bank Primary School is set to receive a makeover on Monday, May 9, thanks to Tesco Community Group and superstore B&Q.

The school’s temporary base in Teesville on Learning Lane will be spruced up as a host of volunteers, managers and staff from Tesco and B&Q will be coming to paint, weed, dig and plant in the outdoor areas.

Fruit and vegetables will also be planted, and a number of paint jobs, including the painting of a pirate ship, will help give the school a bright and cheerful exterior.

Some of the pupils from the school have volunteered to take responsibility of the maintenance of the plants, fruits and vegetables once the makeover is complete.

Cllr Craig Hannaway, Cabinet Member for Children at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said: “This is a great initiative to help spruce up the school as structural work continues at its permanent location on Poplar Grove in South Bank.

“I am pleased the school is continuing to provide a rich and stimulating learning environment for children.”

Helen Hall, Headteacher at South Bank Primary School said: “It is fantastic to see the community coming together like this to improve the school’s environment.

“I would like to thank B&Q and Tesco Community Group for helping us and for donating the equipment, paint and plants for this project.”
