Hambleton District Council is hosting a joint event for landowners, small builders, self-  builders and communities wanting to progress a small community led housing scheme in the district.

It aims to promote the important role that these groups can play in the delivery of housing on small sites across the district.

The event – on 24 April – will be held at the Galtres Centre in Easingwold, with a similar event in Stokesley in the early summer.

Council officers will outline how the authority has reviewed its planning policy to help small scale growth in villages. Small builders and self-builders will be provided with details of sites that are currently available. Free advice will also be given on finance issues around funding small scale development and mortgages for self-builders.

And it will include a session to ‘match’ small builders and self builders with landowners and/or their agents and a workshop showcasing good practice for builders seeking to access funding.

Delegates will be encouraged to visit the ‘market place’ where professionals, financial advisors, agents and local construction businesses will be able to promote their products and services.
