People in a County Durham village are being asked for their views on proposed changes to their parish council.

West Rainton Parish Council wants to reduce its membership from 11 councillors to nine.

The council also wants to change its name to West Rainton and Leamside Parish Council in order to better reflect the area it covers.

Durham County Council is carrying out a consultation on the proposals following a request by the authority.

Residents can have their say by emailing democraticservices@durham.gov.uk or visiting www.durham.gov.uk/communitygovernance before Tuesday, 12 June.
