Contego Response, a County Durham-based specialist in bird and pest control, has pledged its support to more than 3,000 children in Africa who are suffering from malaria.
The company has engaged with the not-for-profit social enterprise BUY1GIVE1 (B1G1) for the initiative and has already secured 500 treatments.
B1G1 is a global business giving initiative that makes it easy for small and medium sized businesses to support projects across the world, including vaccinations for children with malaria in African countries.
For every sale or transaction that a firm pledges to the initiative, a donation goes towards the desired project.
Contego Response was established in 2004 by entrepreneur Michael Taylor, who started his career as an animal trainer on feature films, including the critically-acclaimed Harry Potter film series.
The company has grown to become one of the UK’s leading industry specialists, serving blue chip clients and businesses ranging from professional sports clubs and fast food chains to supermarkets and shopping centres.
Michael Taylor, Managing Director of Contego Response, said: “It is important to give back and support good causes like B1G1. As soon as I heard of the initiative, I immediately signed up to it and it is something that our customers have embraced too.
“We all know too well the devastating consequences that diseases like malaria have on families, and even more so in famine-struck communities in Africa and the developing world. Hopefully our goal of 3,000 treatments will be reached and we can play our part in helping to save children’s lives.”
Michael added: “It is satisfying to know that for every job we complete and every customer we serve, we will be doing many people some good in the world. I am hoping to support other excellent initiatives through B1G1 as Contego grows.”
Operating across three sites in the UK, in London, Scotland and from its headquarters in Chilton, County Durham, Contego has an in-house bird of prey team, comprising of more than 60 hawks and falcons.
