Curry At The Castle….

One of the North East’s most historic venues will be swapping banquets for bhajis next month when it holds its first, ever, curry night.

On Thursday, 7 April, 600-year-old Lumley Castle, Chester-le-Street – famous for its Elizabethan banquets – will, instead, be treating diners to a celebration of Indian cuisine.

Chefs from the four star hotel’s renowned Black Knight restaurant have devised a three course menu with a free bottle of wine for bookings for two people or more.

The Curry Night menu will start with a sharing platter of onion bhaji, spiced vegetable samosa, lamb kofta, poppadoms and pickles, followed by a trio of curries with mushroom pilau rice and garlic and herb naan bread.

For desserts diners will be able to choose either a saffron and pistachio iced parfait with fruit salsa and coconut shards or a mango yoghurt mousse with caramelised pineapple and vanilla tuille.

The Curry Night will take place in the Black Knight restaurant and tickets cost £25 per person.
