Now in its fifth year, the increasingly popular event forms part of the Stockton Cycling Festival programme and will take place on Saturday 11 July.
Starting from Stockton Riverside and heading out to various locations around the Borough and North Yorkshire Moors, the routes will take in the breath-taking scenery on offer while offering a great cycling challenge to riders of all abilities.
A choice of rides from 36 to 108 miles is available and all begin with a Tour de France style motorcycle escorted start – allowing riders to set off from Stockton unaffected by traffic and feeling like stars of the sport.
Ken Dixon, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The Stockton Endeavour Sportive is one of the many fantastic events as part of our Stockton Cycling Festival and other sporting challenges that take place all year round.
“The Sportive features first class facilities including excellent and clear signage throughout all routes, refreshment stops and wonderful support on the course along with a really friendly atmosphere that is created by the vibrant mix of first time entrants and seasoned competitors.
“I would encourage anyone looking for a new fitness challenge this summer or anyone that simply wants to get out and about while making new friends to give it a go.”
With over 500 riders taking part last year, advance booking is advised – prices range from £15 to £25 depending on your chosen route:
- Short Sport – 36.2 miles – two to four hours ride time – £15 entry
- Short Challenge – 36.9 miles – two to four hours ride time – £15 entry
- Medium – 58 miles – five to seven hours ride time – £25 entry
- Le Tour de Moor – 108 miles – seven to ten hours ride time – £25 entry
Beginners are advised to consider either the Short Sport or Short Challenge and bike checks are being offered before the riders set off.
The Medium and Le Tour de Moor routes offer a stiffer test for more experienced cyclists featuring seven significant climbs totalling 3,132 metres over the 108 mile route.
All entrants receive a detailed event pack in advance of the day, giving them all of the guidance they need on what to bring and what to expect.
The event is run in partnership between Stockton Borough Council and Velo29.
