Darlington Orchestra Winter Concert 2019

The Darlington Orchestra Winter Concert is on Saturday 26th January 7.30pm at the Dolphin Centre. It precents an eclectic selection of music from across three centures.

The orchestra will play 10 short classical pieces – from lively operetta overtures to a medley of elegant Tchaikovsky ballet waltzes. The programme also includes 18th-century music by Haydn and Mozart through to 20th-century pieces, such as the title theme from the movie Charade and a selection of music by Bing Crosby.

A printed programme with some information about the pieces and composers will be available free of charge for concert-goers, with an additional version written for 5- to 11-year-olds.

Special guests aree Cockerton Prize Silver Band and they will perform six pieces including the Flying Theme from ET and band favourites.

Darlington Orchestra conductor David Plews said: “The Winter Concert will be a great introduction to live classical music for new audience members. And it will be a familiar format for our regular concert-goers, although we’re performing all new repertoire to entertain you on a January evening.”

There is free parking in Darlington town centre after 6pm. Doors to Central Hall will open at 7pm, and there is step-free access to Central Hall from Bull Wynd.
