The Hartlepool United mascot will be at the launch event to mark the start of national Dementia Awareness Week – 15th to 21st May.
The Tees and Hartlepool Yacht Club will host a range of activities on Saturday, 14th May, including the Move a Memory Mile community walk.
Registration for the walk begins at 9:30am for a 10:30am start. It has been made accessible to all – with 1.5, 3 and 4.5 mile variations available – to encourage participation.
Walkers are also invited to the Push the Boat Out sailing taster sessions, among other free activities and entertainment throughout the day.
Staff and elderly residents from Queens Meadow Care Home, on Stockton Road, will be taking part in the walk.
Julie Armstrong, manager at the care home, said: “Our residents and staff are really excited to take part in the Walk a Memory Mile event on Saturday. We’d love to see as many people as possible join us.
“The event kicks off an exciting week of activities and events across Hartlepool to raise awareness of dementia. We’re pleased to be working closely with the North of Teesside Dementia Collaborative on the events.”
