NORTH EAST-based international ecommerce company RyanFosterDesign (RFD) has relocated into bigger premises and taken on two more developers after helping to propel one of its biggest clients, Gymshark, into the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list for the second year running and increasing its sales from £12 million to £41 million in the last 12 months.

UK-based active-wear brand Gymshark has also signed up to RFD’s client success programme, to assist with its ongoing plans for further developments and improvements, which is helping to boost RFD’s own ambitious growth plans.

RFD has doubled the size of its offices in making the move to North Shields Fish Quay, to accommodate plans to create more jobs, increase revenue by over 25 percent next year and build on its success in achieving the half million pound turnover mark this year.

The 18-strong team at RFD now powers some of the world’s most popular fashion and lifestyle brands, helping them generate high volume sales by adopting a strategic approach to monitoring and responding to buyer behaviour, and creating customised campaigns to improve conversion rates and increase sales.

Its success comes on the back of partnering with Shopify Plus, which is one of the world’s biggest ecommerce platforms. RFD is one of only a handful of UK specialist Shopify Plus partner agencies, capable of designing, building and optimising websites for the cloud-based platform.

Headed up by founder and design director Ryan Foster, the move into bigger premises on North Shields Fish Quay will see RFD service customer ecommerce sites in the UK, the USA, Australia and across Europe, and comes on the back of the trend for big brands looking to cut out traditional retailers and sell direct to consumers.

With RFD’s help, Gymshark has grown its revenue from £12.8 to £41 million in the last 12 months. Gymshark was created in 2012 by teenager Ben Francis, and won the 2017 global Shopify Build a Bigger Business competition for the highest total gross sales gain, for its 215% year-on-year growth.

Mr Foster said: “We are very pleased at being able to apply our expertise to helping Gymshark and other brands achieve phenomenal growth.

“We have been on the lookout for larger premises for a while, and a combination of new contract wins and clients signing up to our client success programme, plus a recruitment drive to find new members of the team has prompted the move.

RFD’s work for Australian swimwear brand Triangl, which sells 1,500 bikinis a day thanks to celebrity endorsement and is rated as the world’s most popular bikini, has has seen revenues grow from zero to $45m in its first three years of business. Triangl co-founder Erin Deering is now one of the richest young women in Australia.

“Gymshark and Triangl are typical of very successful direct-to-consumer brands that own all of their customer data. They have never had physical shops or traded on big platforms such as Amazon. The only place you can buy their products is from their own websites, so the buying process needs to be exceptional, and give savvy online shoppers the personalised experience they expect,” added Mr Foster.

“We are delighted to be playing our part in increasing our customers’ sales. Client success is how we measure our own success, and 2018 is looking very rosy.”

Ecommerce industry experts eMarketer say that worldwide ecommerce sales are tipped to rise 23.2% to $2.290 trillion by the end of 2017, and account for 10 percent of total retail sales worldwide.
