Disco fever at Hillfield Nursing Home

Staff, residents and the wider community have come together to celebrate ‘Hillfest’ at a Newcastle care home.

Hillfield Nursing Home, on Grainger Park Road, held the 1970s-themed event, which raised more than £400 for its residents’ comfort fund – for additional treats and trips out for residents.

Staff and residents dressed up in 70s attire with live music from the decade performed throughout the afternoon. Lambretta scooters and other vintage vehicles were also on show on the home’s grounds.

There were a number of stalls, raffles and a tombola held on the day, contributing to the raised amount.

Kevin Mulvey, home manager at Hillfield Nursing Home, said: “It was great to welcome guests to the home for our 1970s themed-party, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. We are always looking at creative ways to involve the wider community and the 1970s themed celebration went down a treat, while raising significant funds for our residents.

“I would like to thank everyone for coming along and embracing the disco spirit, and we are looking forward to welcoming people back next year for Hillfest, as well as other celebrations in the future.”

Hillfield Nursing Home provides nursing care for up to 42 elderly residents.
