Discover Creative Age this October

Creative sessions for people living with dementia are being held at a host of the North East’s cultural venues.

Creative ageing charity Equal Arts has teamed up with venues in Sunderland, Newcastle and County Durham to provide weekly sessions for people living with dementia and their carers.

The informal and friendly sessions take place each week and are led by professional artists and the interests of those taking part.

The project is inspired by research that creative expression in artistic activities such as painting or making music has been found to be an important way for people with a dementia to express and access emotions even when cognitive abilities are diminishing.
