Don’t Miss Your Chance To Vote

STOCKTON-on-Tees Borough Council is urging residents who are not already registered to vote to do so by the EU referendum deadline of 7 June.

The referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union will take place on Thursday 23 June 2016.

People who aren’t already registered to vote must do so by the 7 June deadline. Residents are encouraged to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or call the Voter Registration Helpline on 01642 526196.

Voters who are already registered to vote are being reminded that they do not need to register again for the EU Referendum on 23 June.

The Electoral Commission’s voting guide, which was delivered to every UK household over the past week, contains important information for voters on how to register to vote, how to cast a vote, and views from the lead campaigners for the ‘Remain’ and ‘Leave’ side.

Emma Hartley, Head of Campaigns and Corporate Communications at the Electoral Commission said: “The referendum on 23 June is an opportunity for people to have their say on one of the key political issues of our time.

“Voters have told us that they want accessible and impartial information so that they feel they can make an informed decision at the ballot box.  We have sent our voting guide to every household across the UK so that as many people as possible feel confident about casting their vote on 23 June”.

The guide is also available online and has been produced in a range of different languages and accessible formats.

To register to vote, visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, call the Voter Registration Helpline on 01642 526196, or email electoral@stockton.gov.uk to request a hard copy registration form.
