Drive in cinema seeks new sites

Screen Shot 2015-12-21 at 09.01.38Moonlight Drive-in Cinema is looking to expand its unique entertainment experience and is looking for potential new sites across the north of England.

Moonlight Drive-in Cinema provides a quality cinema experience that people enjoy from the comfort of their own cars. Sound is transmitted to the vehicle’s FM radio and refreshments are delivered to the vehicle. Films shown include current blockbusters and special ‘seasons’ of much loved classics.

An ideal site would provide hardstanding with power and water to be used from 6pm all year round, but all potential sites will be seriously considered. As the films’ sound is delivered in-vehicle, it is almost silent to anyone nearby.

Founded by Scarborough entrepreneur Benjamin Stonehouse, the business is fully funded and visitors to the Scarborough site have enjoyed current and classic movies delivered by a bright, powerful 4K digital cinema projector on a 30 metre wide screen. To date eight part-time jobs have been created.

Benjamin Stonehouse said: “We have everything in place, but are looking for more locations both for long term use and for pop-up events. I want to take this opportunity to call out for owners of car park or other locations that would take a minimum of 40 cars and would be suitable for a pop-up cinema event to get in touch.

“We are a Scarborough-based business looking to expand into more locations throughout North Yorkshire, the North East and East Yorkshire. We have exciting plans for the next five years with the vision of opening multiple sites across the UK.”
